AUSPAN INFORM Q1 2025

Written by Jeff Alagar | 31 January 2025

Hello and welcome to the AUSPAN Industrial Inform for Q1 2025.

Welcome to the new year and we trust you managed to get some well-needed rest and relaxation over the Christmas break.

Warehouse & Offices for Direct Freight Express (DFE)

The end of 2024 marked an exciting period of achievement here at AUSPAN, with several of our industrial projects reaching completion. This facility was completed for one of our repeat clients Direct Freight Express (DFE), one of Australia’s leading logistics companies. This new facility in Kenwick joins the 40+ depots currently forming the DFE operation across Australia and features 2,800m2 of warehouse, 65m2 of offices and 5,000m2 of external hardstand.

AUSPAN Root Lift for B&J Catalano

While the innovative ‘AUSPAN roof lift’ installation process is a hallmark of our agricultural projects across WA, it’s less common for our industrial projects to incorporate this method. That said, there are notable exceptions, and this recent project for one of WA’s leading earthmoving companies, B&J Catalano, is a standout example. As shown in the video, we employed seven cranes to lift the 100m x 40m x 10m structure into place—a remarkable feat of engineering. This bulk storage facility is designed to provide flexible solutions for both long-term and short-term storage of various loose bulk materials, including mineral sands, grain, and other commodities destined for shipment through Bunbury Port.

Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association (GABA)

We recently visited a project we completed for the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) and had the pleasure of catching up with their president, Peter Brown. Before this build, the Geraldton area faced a significant shortage of basketball facilities, with demand for courts far outpacing availability due to the sport's growing popularity. The AUSPAN team stepped in to design and construct an impressive 85m x 36m x 9m four-court superstructure, while Peter Fleay and his team from Geraldton Building Services & Cabinets did a terrific job completing the rest of the project, which included a kitchen, kiosk and a servery area.

As shown in this short video, GABA is now a standout not only in regional WA basketball but also among metropolitan associations.

Workshop, Warehouse & Offices For CJD Equipment

Creating industrial spaces for Western Australian businesses provides us with the opportunity to connect with the inspiring stories behind these organisations. CJD Equipment is a remarkable family-owned WA success story, established over 34 years ago. Since then, they have grown to become market leaders in the sales and service of new and used Kenworth and DAF vehicles, expanding their operations to achieve a national presence.

In this recently published case study, we highlighted another construction project AUSPAN has proudly delivered for CJD. The newly completed facility includes 600m² of two-storey office space, 2,836m² of workshop and warehouse space, a 460m² cantilever awning, a 225m² stand-alone enclosed truck wash bay, 4,675m² of external concrete hardstanding, and 1,500m² of external asphalt car parking and driveway.

As CJD’s National Fleet and Asset Manager, Tim Willix, shared, the strong partnership between CJD and AUSPAN is one we value greatly and look forward to continuing in future projects.

So that’s it for this quarter’s edition of the AUSPAN Industrial Inform. Stay safe, and we look forward to updating you again in April.
